Rice fields are harvested by hand in Vietnam using a sicle. The cut rice stalks are then fed into a portable threshing machine which separates the rice from the straw. Once threshing is done, the rice is bagged and taken to a local farmer who will have a small motorized mill in his home to clean and re-bag the rice.
