Small Vietnamese Village

This is a typical Vietnamese village. Rice or vegetable crops are usually found growing up to the edge of town.

While more people in larger cities have small 125 cc motorcycles (or even 60 cc), bicycles are a common means of transportation for adults and children everywhere. If you look closely at this photo, you may be able to see that two children are sharing one bicycle. Often, an entire family will ride at once on a bicycle or motorcycle.

The low ridge of mountains in the distance is a familiar backdrop. This range runs north and south throughout most of the country.

This photo also holds memories for me as being the first black and white print I ever made myself in a chemical darkroom before I owned a digital camera. It was much more magical to see a print appear from nothing in the developing tray compared to simply uploading images onto my computer, but it was a slow and smelly process I'm happy to be done with. I'll have to re-scan the negative some day and bring it up to a better viewing size
