Ruddy Duck

This is a male Ruddy Duck that can be found in Saskatchewan lakes and marshes. The bird is also known as a Stiff Tail because it's tail feathers are short and straight. It has the distinctive light blue bill. The female is more earthtoned, does not have a blue bill and has a distinctive white stripe under her eye.

I first wanted to call this bird a Blue Billed Duck but discovered that the Blue Bill is missing the white on its head. Otherwise it looks quite similar.
