Bandmaster - Terry Heckman
Terry Heckman has been the Principal Trumpet of the Saskatoon Symphony
since the fall of 1991. He is also a member of the Saskatchewan Brass
quintet and the Metro Jazz Ensemble and is an active freelance musician
in a wide variety of settings. Terry is also busy teaching and adjudicating
around the prairie provinces, including workshops and masterclasses for
school programs, the Saskatchewan Orchestral Association, and the
Saskatchewan Band Association.
Originally from Regina, Terry grew up in the Lions Band program. Influential
teachers, including Don Schultz and David Dando led Terry to consider a
career in music. He holds a Bachelor of Music (Education) from the University
of Victoria and a Licentiate in Music (Performance) from McGill University.
He has studied at university with Louis Ranger, Robert Earley and Howard
Engstrom, and through master classes with Vincent Cichowicz and Armando Ghitalla.
